These free ABC Order Task Cards will make an easy to assemble addition to your word work centers.
This is a collection of 28 ABC order task cards that can be used for a literacy center or independent practice.
Another option is to send these home as practice with families instead of a traditional worksheet. Tasks such as this one might help to encourage your families to work together.
This center set has been created to be a free classroom resource for teachers. This collection may not be sold or modified and sold in any way.
To create this literacy center, print in color on card stock. Then, laminate and cut apart the cards.
You might also choose to laminate the recording mat so that students can reuse them.
The cards start easy and then become gradually more difficult requiring students to alphabetize to the third or fourth letter of words.
In addition to the task cards, we have provided two work mats (one with space for 6 words and one with space for 9 words – to match the task cards).
You can print off three or four of each of these, laminate them and have students use them again and again with a Vis-a-Vis/dry erase marker and the self-check pages.
If you’d like to check students’ work we have also provided two recording pages that you can copy and set in stacks at the literacy center. In this case you could use our self-check pages as an answer key to check student pages.
