Working on Math Facts in the Classroom
While these pages are designed for a paper and pencil type of practice, be sure you are weaving in other ways for children to interact with math facts.
One fun idea is to tape off your own math wheel shape on your carpet. Make it child-sized so that students can stand in each section.
This math wheel can be used to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Create a set of cards to be used with this math wheel. You might just use large index cards or just cut a piece of construction paper into four equal pieces.
You can then have students work together to make a life-sized math wheel. They can lay the cards in the spots and enter the numbers.
Once the cards contain numbers, they can scramble the cards and pass on to another group of students. This new group can work to place the cards in the math wheel on the correct spots.
These Subtraction Fact Math Wheels
This set of math wheels is a little different from our other sets. To make the math wheels work and not give students answers with negative numbers, we had to modify the format just a bit.
Each page only has numbers that students can successfully subtract without receiving a negative answer. Children will start with the number in the second ring. They will subtract the number in the middle from this number. The answer will go in the outer ring.
Here is an example of what it will look like:
