CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.1.3f (read words with inflectional endings)
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.2.3d (decode words with common suffixes)
When reading with our students, we often find that many do not remember to read through to the end of the word. We have created this collection of activities to help your students recognize and use the endings.
Posters -ed poster -ing poster Hang these in your room and encourage students to record words they find in their reading on the posters. You might have one set in your room or one set for each group of students.
Bookmarks Use these to reinforce the skills you are practicing during independent reading time. Students record three words to fit each category.
Endings Cards Center Print and laminate the cards. Students pick one polka dotted and one striped card. They then complete the form to record their learning. We have included two forms with this center so you can easily differentiate for your students.
Roll an Ending Print the dice on construction paper and assemble. At the center, students record what they have rolled and write the word with the correct ending.
Paragraph This paragraph asks students to read and find the verbs with the incorrect endings. They then make corrections at the bottom.
Practice Page Students write the verb with the correct ending in the sentence.

I love the Roll an ending dice. What a great way to reinforce base word plus ending!
