This free collection of resources will help as your students begin to understand the meaning of fractions.
We have worked to create ideas that will be engaging for your students.
In second grade, students are being introduced to fractions. Students are expected to partition circles and rectangles into two, three and four equal shapes.
They will also be asked to use the words halves, thirds, half of and a third of.
Students will describe the whole as two halves, three thirds and four fourths.
The final requirement is that students will recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape.
