These beach scrambled sentences are designed to be a free, engaging literacy center for your classroom.
This set of Read, Write & Draw It! pages is designed with a beach theme because I was actually being a bum on the beach last week while Cathy worked! I had to do something to redeem myself, but use the inspiration I got while being lazy! 🙂
These Write it, Read it, Draw it! sets seem so simple but we have found that students love the activity.
We also believe that students need more fine motor skill practice than they receive on a daily basis. These pages give students this much needed practice.
(We have both been in situations where cutting and pasting has been viewed as busy work. We so strongly believe that fine motor skills are overlooked as a necessary skill for young students – hopefully if you can’t use these scrambled sentences, there are other ways you are able to work fine motor practice into your routine.)
To complete this activity:
- Students cut out and read the words at the bottom of the pages.
- They then create meaning by arranging them into a sentence, gluing them in the blank boxes and writing the sentence on the line.
- Finally , the will illustrate the sentence to show understanding.
We have created two beach scrambled sentences sets for you to choose from.
The first link doesn’t contain punctuation and doesn’t have the first word capitalized, but for those students who still need that support, there is a second document provided for a bit of differentiation.
We have also again provided a blank page so that you can differentiate even further by making up your own sentences using sight words or other beach-themed words and phrases.
