This camping ABC order literacy center will allow your students to practice ordering words during their word work practice.
This is another free resource for teachers from The Curriculum Corner.
Use this camping ABC order literacy center to help carry your camping theme into your center work.
A camping theme is always a fun classroom focus. It offers so many opportunities for exploration.
A good theme is one that makes it easy to incorporate your focus into all areas of the classroom – this one definitely fits that requirement!
Set up a tent for a silent reading spot. Build a campfire out of cardboard tubes, construction paper and tissue paper.
Be sure to check out the links to some of our other camping favorites at the bottom of this post.
Setting up your Camping ABC Order Center
To create your center, begin by printing on cardstock. We used a minimal amount of color ink to help you out. The color of the words is used in sorting so keep that part if you are able. If not, you could just put colored dots in the corner of each card.
Once you have printed, you will want to laminate your center for durability.
Cut apart your cards and place in a basket or other container.
You will want to supply students with the recording pages. We are offering you three – you can choose which fits your students best. Or, you can allow students to pick the best fit.
Students will sort the cards according to the page.
They can lay out the cards and place in alphabetical order.
Once they have ordered the cards, they can record their answers.
Not wanting your kids to write the words? You could have them snap a picture with their iPad and turn the picture in!
