This free fall writing center is designed to help your writers work on combining shorter sentences in their writing.
Use this fall writing center as you get ready to wrap up your school year. This fun fall theme will be a great addition to your fall activities.
We are adding a new literacy center with a fall focus that will help your writers.
One skill we find that writers sometimes need help with is combining their shorter sentences into longer sentences that tell more. We have created this center to help students with this skill.
You will find a set of cards. These cards contain shorter sentences and are color coded – the border color shows the sentence pairs. You will also find a recording page.
Assemble the center by printing the sentences on card stock. You will then laminate and cut apart.
Provide students with the sentence cards and the recording page.
Students will take a pair of cards and create one sentence by combining the two.
Have students record their new sentence.
For students who are in need of more of a challenge, you might encourage them to add adjectives to their new sentences.
