Use this scientist parts of speech sort for language skills practice in your classroom.
This is another free resource for teachers from The Curriculum Corner.
This scientist parts of speech sort will give your students language skills practice with a scientist theme.
We love hands on centers for language practice but sometimes we know you need a paper option. Mixing your centers with a sort like this one will give you a way to document student practice.
Instead of writing, we created this set with to allow your students some cutting practice. Although we know some schools feel like cutting is busy work, we’ve read much research supporting kids needing more fine motor practice. Including cutting in this set was intentional for this reason. If you are encouraged not to allow your students to cut, you can choose to have students write the words.
Ideas for Following up on the Scientist Parts of Speech Sort
Along with four parts of speech sorts, you will also find a blank page. This can be used for students to create their own scientist themed word bank. Students can work together to create interesting lists. When students finish, they can add these to their writing folders. The word banks can be a good resource for students working on informational text.
Looking for another way to use the word bank? Print as a poster and create a whole class word bank. Students can add words when they find them in their reading or use new words during science.
