Download these Twitter reading response pages to guide student responses during independent reading.
This is another free resource for teachers and homeschool families from The Curriculum Corner.
Try these Twitter reading response pages during your reading workshop.
During and after independent reading, teachers often work to have a task for students to complete that can be used as a quick check in.
Sometimes these tasks take away much of your student’s free reading time. If children are excited about a book and want to keep reading, we don’t want to assign a long task that takes away from this.
For this reason, we have been thinking about ways to create quick reading responses for intermediate classrooms.
We are looking for responses that will give you just a little bit of information to keep up to date with what your students are reading on days when you do not have a conference with them.
As a result, we created these Twitter reading response pages.
We like them because they only require 280 characters, just like a Tweet. Hopefully this can be a response that only requires a few minutes of time and the rest can be spent on reading.
These Twitter Reading Response Pages
There are a total of eight pages included in this download.
The following focuses are found:
- Share your book
- Currently reading
- From a character in the book
- About the main event
- Today I learned
- Something interesting…
- Who’s the expert?
- I recommend
To prepare students to respond on these pages, it will be important to make sure they understand how to form their own tweets.
The most important aspect will be helping students with the allowed length of tweets.
Each tweet can have no more than 280 characters. These characters include letters, spaces, punctuation and any other symbols used.
