These dialogue practice slides will provide your intermediate students with writing practice.
This post shares a set of dialogue practice slides designed to help fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students write dialogue.
Students will use a slide as an outline for their writing. The goal is for students to punctuate dialogue correctly.
This is another free resource for teachers and homeschool families from The Curriculum Corner.
How to use these dialogue practice slides
These slides present students with various scenarios. Each has a conversation between two characters.
Writers are asked to take these conversations and turn them into properly punctuated dialogue. They will add quotation marks, dialogue tags, and make any other needed changes. I had students give the people in the story names
Students can also expand the dialogue to make their writing even more interesting and detailed.
These slides include the following topics:
- Finding a lost pet
- Discussing a new video game
- Planning a science project
- Preparing for a school talent show
- Time travel adventure
- Dance rehearsal
- Trying out for the _____ team
- Auditions
You can vary the requirements of this assignment depending on the needs of your students. You might have some students who will be expected to add the quotation marks and dialogue tags.
Other students might be asked to add more descriptive language to the conversation.
