Kindergarten Making Tens Resources
Monster Number Cards To be used as a resource for students still building number identification skills. These may or may not be needed for your students.
Monster Number Mats These can be printed in color and laminated for students needing help with understanding numbers. They can use chips to create the number on the mats. More advanced students can then determine how many are needed to make 10.
Ten Frames These files includes 10 frames in color and black & white, full page and half page versions of both.
Ten Frames Collection
This collection also includes the following:
Today’s Number Is Multiple versions in color and black and white. These are designed to be laminated for use with a dry erase marker or printed in black and white on paper so students can add to their math notebooks.
Striped Number Sort Cards These can be used in a variety of ways. Includes number word, number using ones units and number using 10 frame. Teachers can use as a sorting activity at a center, as flash cards or during small group instruction.
Polka Dot Ten Frames These are designed to be used when students are looking at finding how many more are needed to make 10. Give students a laminated card and dry erase marker. Students fill in the empty squares to determine how many are needed. (Since these are simply 10 frame cards, you might find other uses as well!)
Monster Ten Frames Just like the above set but with a fun monster theme.
Striped Task Cards These can be used with either set of 10 frame cards. Students match the “I need…” statement with the 10 frame that matches.
Purple Monster 10 Frame Fill-Ins Students use a dry erase marker to complete the number sentence with the missing number.
Complete the 10 Frame Practice Page
Monster Hunt Pick one card for each monster to hide in the room. Each student receives a recording page. Students hunt for the monster and complete the statements using the monster’s statement.
Green Monster 10 Frames Each monster has a number. Students show the number. They then determine how many more are needed to fill the 10 frame.
I Can Make 10s Booklet This monster themed booklet is designed to be used as independent practice.
Exit Tickets The final two pages can be used as exit tickets or interactive notebook page so teachers can check for understanding. Designed to print two on a page.
